Privacy Policy

Last updated September 9, 2026

This policy explains what information Herun Health collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to herunhealth.com and to any forms, emails, or messages you exchange with us.

Herun Health is operated by Herun Health, with a business address at 14205 Burnet Rd, Ste 570, PMB 927540, Austin, TX 78728-6529. In this policy, "we," "us," and "Herun" mean Herun Health. You can reach us any time at contactus@herunhealth.com.

Herun is not a healthcare provider and is not a HIPAA covered entity. We do not deliver care, diagnose, treat, or bill insurance. Information you give us is not protected health information under HIPAA. The specialists you connect with through Herun are independent practitioners who maintain their own records and their own privacy obligations, separate from ours.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • If you join the client waitlist or request a match: your name, email address, city, and the type of specialist you are interested in. You may also give us a phone number and anything you choose to write in an open text field.
  • If you apply as a specialist: your name, email address, location, specialty, credentials and license or certification numbers, professional references, and the contents of your application. If your application advances, we also collect information needed for credential verification and background screening.
  • If you contact us as an investor or partner: your name, email address, organization, and message.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our host receives basic technical information when you visit: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring site, and time spent.

We do not currently use any analytics, advertising, or tracking tools. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers, and we do not use cookies for advertising. If that changes, we will name the tools here and update the date at the top of this page before they go live.

Sensitive information

When you tell us which kind of specialist you are looking for, that can reveal something about your health — that you are pregnant, postpartum, in menopause, or seeking mental health support. Texas law treats information about a person's health condition or diagnosis as sensitive personal data, and we treat it that way too.

We ask for this information only because we cannot match you to the right specialist without it. You choose whether to provide it, and you can leave the field blank or select "Multiple / Not sure." By submitting the form, you consent to our using that information to match you with specialists and to contact you about your request.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not sell sensitive personal data. We do not use it for targeted advertising or for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

How we use your information

  • To match you with specialists and to send you the results of that match.
  • To review, verify, and communicate about specialist applications.
  • To notify you when Herun launches in your area, if you asked to be notified.
  • To respond to questions you send us.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only in these circumstances:

  • With specialists, to make a match. If you ask us to connect you with a specialist, we share what that specialist needs in order to contact you and understand what you are looking for. We tell you who we are introducing you to before we make the introduction.
  • With service providers who work on our behalf — website hosting, form processing, email delivery, and, for specialist applicants only, credential verification and background screening. These vendors may only use the information to perform services for us.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of people using Herun.
  • In a business transfer, if Herun is acquired or merges with another company. We would notify you before your information became subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.

Background checks for specialist applicants

If you apply as a specialist and your application advances, we may obtain a consumer report about you, including a criminal background check, through a third-party screening company. We will give you a separate written disclosure and ask for your written authorization before we do. If we decide not to accept your application based in whole or in part on that report, we will follow the pre-adverse and adverse action process required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which includes giving you a copy of the report and a summary of your rights so you can dispute anything inaccurate.

Your rights

If you are a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act gives you the right to:

  • Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access it.
  • Correct inaccuracies in it.
  • Delete it.
  • Obtain a portable copy of data you provided to us.
  • Opt out of the sale of your personal data, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. (We do not do any of these, but the right exists regardless.)

Residents of other states may have similar rights under their own laws. We extend these rights to everyone who contacts us, regardless of where you live.

To make a request, email contactus@herunhealth.com with the subject line "Privacy request." We will respond within 45 days and may extend once by another 45 days if we tell you why. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision within 30 days. We will respond to the appeal in writing within 60 days. If we deny the appeal, we will give you a way to contact the Texas Attorney General to submit a complaint.

Marketing emails

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops promotional email but does not stop messages directly related to a request you made, such as the results of a specialist match.

How long we keep it

We keep waitlist and match information for as long as you remain on the waitlist and for 24 months after your last interaction with us, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Specialist application records are kept for the duration of the relationship plus five years to document our verification process. Background check reports are retained only as long as needed and are then securely destroyed.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted transmission and access limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Herun is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will notify people on our list by email before it takes effect.
